2 days design challenge to improve the workflow of an existing and consolidated app.
Workflow Optimization
The challenge is to improve an existing app and identify the specific optimisations needed to improve the user experience. Each of us has the freedom to choose an app and focus on improving its quality rather than quantity.
My Role
UX Designer (solo project)
Research & Findings:
I focused on optimising Tripadvisor, a platform that provides travel-related reviews and allows users to research and save places of interest. During my heuristic analysis, I discovered a section called "Plan", which allows users to enter places they want to visit for a specific trip. They can include details such as travel dates, comments and specific restaurants or activities associated with the trip.
However, a key problem I identified was that there was no way for users to indicate whether or not they had already visited a particular place. To illustrate this problem, I introduced a proto-persona called Valentina Cossu.
Solution:
By introducing a simple flow, I added a green dot to indicate visited places, allowing the user to easily identify their visited locations. Additionally, I incorporated a filter feature that enables the user to toggle between visited and unvisited places for better organization.
Furthermore, I categorized trips as "visited" if at least one place within the trip has been visited, providing the proto-persona "Valentina" with an overview of her progress and allowing her to manage her trips more effectively.
